Eastbound Third at Harshman. Dayton is set up almost like shallow bowl. Unless you are following one of the rivers, you do not have to get that far out of downtown to start gaining elevation.
Notice how West Dayton starts to rise at the rear of this scene.
This shallow bowl profile proved to be disastrous during the 1913 flood
resulting in the formation of the Miami Valley Conservancy District, and a completion of a dam and flood control project by the 1920's. May 23, 2010
