Flying Trapeze. When RTA wanted to extend the Rt 3 and 4 east to the Eastown Hub the building owners did not want trolleybus wires attached to their building and more importantly they did not want poles set in the somewhat narrow alleyway between the buildings. The RTA came up with this solution, known as the Flying Trapeze. The trolleybus wires are suspended on a cantenary between the two arches on either side of the buildings. Eastown had been here for years and this trolley extension was made in year 2000. It is short yet interesting. May 23, 2010
